The 45-degree back extension, also called a Roman chair, strengthens the posterior chain: the lower-back muscles, glutes and hamstrings. Users lock their ankles under the roller pad, hinge at the hips over the pads and extend back up. It is a staple for core strength, injury-prevention routines and glute training, with height-adjustable hip pads to suit different body sizes.
